About Croatia

18/02/2010

Croatia is a beautiful and diverse country stretching from the Alps in the north and deep into the Pannonian Valley to the indented coast of the Adriatic Sea. While the country boasts beautiful rural and mountanous areas, it is the magnificent Dalmatian coast that has become so popular with tourists and holidaymakers in recent years.

Split Airport

Split International Airport is located just 9 km from our apartments at Villa Alana and Villa Salena on the island of Ciovo, connected to the mainland via bridge at Trogir. The journey time from these apartments to Split Airport is approximately 15 minutes.

The airport is approximately 23 km from the city of Split itself, and takes about 25mins via car or taxi to the centrally located ferry port, which runs hourly ferries to the Island of Brac, where the Villa Milena Apartments are located.

Buying In Croatia

The Croatian Property Market

Like almost every other country in Europe, Croatia has been affected by the recent property crisis and global recession. It is no surprise that property prices in most areas fell between 15% and 25% towards the end of 2008 and 2009. The country had hoped for accession into the E.U by 2010 but this looks more likely for 2012 due to the economic situation in other E.U countries such as Greece.
